When in 2018, I decided to deepen my knowledge of astrology, I made a pact with myself: that I will keep digging into this field until it no longer made sense. But the more I learn, the more I appreciate the value of this knowledge that has been an intrinsic part of life for millennia, and continues to be present today. Not only does astrology give us a deeper understanding of our individual experience of life, it also connects us with the cosmos, expanding our sense of place beyond earth. Before humans mapped out contours of the land with the bodies of water; seas, rivers, lakes; they mapped out the stars in the sky. Observing the night sky—and making meaning of how the movements above, influence what happens below on earth—as a foundational element of human life. Stories inspired by the heavens have guided our spiritual philosophy over time. The movement of the stars guided our sense of time, the cyclical nature of events in life, of patterns and repetition. In ancient astrology the foundational elements of life; earth, air, fire, and water were the same elements of heavenly bodies in the cosmos above. As above, so Below. Today, because of light created by urban growth, we do not have the same experience the brilliant night sky as people did in the past, making it harder for us to connect with the cosmos.

Reading a Person’s Birth Chart
On a personal level, a birth-chart reading is a magical way of offering insight to the intimate and personal experiences a person has of their life. I approach a chart reading with two concepts. First, that the planets in a person’s birth chart are like a family, or an inheritance that we can learn to accept and work with over time. Second, that the energies of these planets are like a toolbox; something we can actively find ways to work with. Astrology shows us that we are guided by the complex energies of our individual planetary constellations. A reading points at how planetary alignments bring ease and/or challenge in our experiences. Rather than dismiss, or suppress our feelings, an astrology reading suggests that we can learn, and unlearn, listen, and try to respond to the needs of our many selves. |

For me, astrology helps create new meaning of our personal, and collective experiences of life. In light of the difficulties we are confronted with in this capitalist, violent world, astrology offers an alternative language for retelling our story in connection with the many beings, and non-beings we live with. It contextualises our experiences in life in cycles, and helps us work in synchronicity towards our path. It suggests humility, because we see ourselves working within a cosmology. It also offers a new language than the one we might have been brought up with, that we use the power of our mind, and we must work alone on changing ourselves, and that this will bring us success and happiness. This language focuses on expressing a masculine outward drive, without giving space to the intuitive feminine principles of how we engage with the world. In astrology, these two polarities are combined, and acceptance of the self, along with learning to listen to a smaller inner calling, helps us work with our multiple selves, inviting forgiveness, and giving us tools for working towards the things that we feel more subtly in ourselves.

MONEY: I charge a sliding scale between 50 - 70 Euros. But don’t let the money stand in the way, we can always work something out.
