The Arab Unity Chorale (2009)
8-part video installation varying from 13-25 mins
An 8-part video performance that investigates the collective Arab identity and the publics' connection with notions of a collctive Arab identity, through a speech based on public addresses given by Eygpts' ex-president Gamal Abdul Nasser - an iconic and contested figure in the United Arab Republic project of the 1950's, through the relationship of people from different Arab backgrounds, age groups, and political viewpoints. Repetition is a central element in the work; seen throughout the text itself, in the multiplicity of the performers, as well as the visual element in the installation itself.
Exhibitions: 'The Other Shadow of the City' 2010, Jerusalem, and "Arab Contemporary" Louisiana Museum, Copenhagen 2014.
